Biography

The techie aspect

Who art thou? You might ask. Well, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is José Luis Peña and I am a web designer based out of the always quirky and creative Jingletown district of Oakland. I’ve been pushing pixels since the hay days of the dot-com era (circa 1999), which in itself, has provided me with the necessary experience needed for publishing web content. I am known to be a bit of a pixel control freak and my infatuation with tying together harmoniously appealing streamline designs never ceases. (However, Internet Explorer sometimes differs in opinion...arggh!). When it comes to the web, I'd like to think of myself as a renaissance man or jack of all trades. I've dabbled with both the technical and artistic aspect of this medium which have included site administration, (Apache, IIS) light scripting (PHP, ASP, jQuery) and design (typography, color schemes, image manipulation). Please visit my resume section for more info on my set of skills.

The not so techie aspect

And in case you're wondering, I do know how to enjoy myself from time to time. In my not so serious moments, I enjoy visiting coffee houses, discovering the vast world of gastronomy (no kitchen burnings as of yet, thank God!), playing the guitar, collecting obscure music and receiving a few not so fun shin kicks out in the soccer pitch. At the present moment, I juggle my time reading several books which range anywhere from Michael Scott's 'Alchemyst' fantasy fiction series to Wayne Grudem's 'Systematic Theology' (which still leaves me scratching my head at times). And those are just a few tidbits about myself. Hope I didn't bore you too much with all that info. Still with me here?
